There is no specific regulation in Costa Rica that requires the use of child seats in private minivans. In practice, most families visiting the country do not use them, so we do not provide child seats as part of our service unless they are specifically requested in advance.
It is also important to mention that after the pandemic, for health and hygiene reasons, we stopped offering child seats. Over the years, we noticed that families rarely used them, and young children and babies are usually perfectly fine traveling inside the minivan with their parents. Families ultimately decide whether they wish to use a child seat or not.
However, if you prefer to use child seats, you are welcome to bring your own, and we will install them for you without any problem.

All our minivans are Toyota Hiace 14-seaters. We usually don’t place more than 8 adults together in one minivan because, with luggage, it can feel too tight. However, in your case, when all of you are traveling together (5 adults + 6 children), you will be fine.
